Casting Call: Story of Resilience for Youth Motivational Presentation
LiveDifferent is seeking a young person, age 16-30, with a powerful personal story of resilience, hope, and transformation.
We are currently developing a new youth motivational presentation called Authors of Hope, which will be shared with students in schools across Canada. The presentation explores how the stories we tell ourselves shape how we see our lives, our challenges, and our future.
We are looking for someone with a meaningful lived experience of adversity who has found a way to move forward with courage, purpose, and a deep sense of learning.
This is not about having a “perfect” story or pretending everything is easy. We are looking for a real, honest, and redemptive story – one where difficulty, pain, failure, loss, identity struggle, hardship, or unexpected challenge became part of a larger journey toward growth, resolve, compassion, purpose, or hope.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is between the ages of 16 and 30
- Has a compelling story of resilience, growth, or personal transformation
- Can reflect thoughtfully on what they learned through their experience
- Has a strong “redemptive through line” – meaning the story does not end in defeat, but points toward courage, meaning, growth, service, healing, or hope
- Is comfortable being interviewed and filmed for a youth-facing presentation
- May be able to provide personal photos or video clips that help support the story
We are open to applicants from all backgrounds, identities, communities, and lived experiences within the age range.
Compensation
The selected participant will receive $1,000, which includes:
- Consultation during pre-production
- One day of filming on location
- Participation in story development/interview preparation
- Providing approved photo or video assets to support the narrative
About the Project
Authors of Hope is designed to help students understand that while we do not always get to choose what happens to us, we can learn to shape the meaning we make from our experiences. Through real stories, practical reflection, and powerful media, the presentation will invite young people to see themselves as people who can grow, overcome, and contribute hope to others.
